3 Steps to Launch Your Business Book (and make your dream impact)
Many business authors do it backwards.
You write your book, then start marketing it afterwards.
You realize too late you don’t have any momentum.
there are 2 possible ways to make an impact with your book:
Publish your book. Then market it on social media.
This is the slow-burn way.
This is the excruciating way.
Launch your book.
This takes upfront preparation.
But the results can be dramatic.

What if your book took off?
How much fun would that be? ✈️
The “taking off” phenomenon usually occurs due to a book launch.
During a book launch, many people buy and talk about your book all at once.
Helping you and your book get attention.
So that your book sells more copies, you make more impact, and your business grows.

Here are the 3 steps my clients do to launch their book:
(That have led to business launches, paid Substack growth, TV appearances, and more.)
1. Prepare your Amazon profile.
Great Hinge profiles use great photos to show off your angles.
Great Substack profiles use optimized headlines & banners to communicate value.
Your Amazon listing is a profile (and possibly your most important profile on the Internet, as it demonstrates your authority.)
Optimize your book title and cover for clarity & conversion. When a podcast listener lands on your Amazon listing, they buy your book rather than close the tab (eCommerce 101).
Place editorial reviews (which borrow from other people’s influence) and graphics on your Amazon listing to look sexy, not saggy.
Put your book in Amazon categories that help you hit #1.

Another key component to your Amazon profile is the number of Amazon reviews you have:
For a business book conveying authority, have no less than 100 reviews.
Which leads to our next step…
2. Send out advance-reader copies of your book.
The best time to get reviews of your book is when your book is new on Amazon (first 30 days).
That’s when your book is fresh, new, and exciting.
How to launch a business book that finally finds success…that’s what you want, isn’t it?
Excitement creates speed.
You can get 100 Amazon reviews in the first 30 days of your book being on Amazon (or faster).
The more reviews you have, the easier it is to sell your book & make more impact.
This just requires some planning ahead.
Just like leaving 30 minutes beforehand to get to a restaurant on time.
Before your book goes live on Amazon, send out free advance-reader copies of your book to your audience.
They will have time to read your book.
They will have time to form an honest opinion of your book.
They will know to leave a review of your book on Amazon during launch.
This is how “famous” authors you know, like Amy Porterfield and Tim Ferriss, launch books.
They build a team of advance readers in the 6 months before their book goes live.
So that the team can leave reviews and share the book during launch.
Clients start working with me 7-8 months before their launch date to prepare for their book launch.
To get more details of how this advance-reader team process works, check out this article.
3. Pitch to 50 podcasts.
This is how your story turns into impact.
How your experience becomes your authority.
How your words are the transformation someone else needed.
Get out there and share your message on podcasts. 🎙️
It has been shown that the audience who listens to podcasts & reads nonfiction books are similar, and they both:
Love to learn
Love to spend time learning
Love to spend money learning
It has also been shown that 67% of podcast listeners have purchased a book they heard about on a show.
Record your podcasts before your book is published.
Do this in the 6 months before your book goes live.
Simply ask your podcast host to release your episode around your launch date.
They will be happy to.
If you pitch to 50 podcasts, expect to guest on 20-25 of them.
The number of podcasts you guest on is up to you.
Guest on more podcasts to get more visibility!
Our clients typically pitch to 50 podcasts before their book goes live, and continue to guest on podcasts for 6-12 months after their book is published.
When those podcasts all land during your launch week, it will seem like everyone is talking about you and your book.
You care about this because your message is spreading.
And impacts more people.
This is the exact strategy James Clear used for his launch of Atomic Habits.

During your launch runway, rinse & repeat these actions.

Gather your tribe.
Excite them.
Help them.
Introverts: I get it if you’re feeling scared about being perceived. Focus on the intimacy and the impact you’re building. Protect your energy, but remember, this isn’t about you, but about helping the people who need your message.
So that when your book launch date arrives…
You’re calm.
You’re clear.
And you’re prepared for a life-changing book launch.
